Research Anatomy and Cell Biology
Key Aspects
Mechanisms of environmental diseases
We investigate how environmental factors induce physiological adaptations or trigger pathological changes in the organism. In this context, we aim to understand the structural and functional changes induced in the organism by distinct environmental stimuli - in the day-to-day interaction between an individual and the environment. By using model organisms at the subcellular, cellular and histological structural level we unravel the function and relevance of a particular structure for the behavior and health of an individual in relation to defined environmental factors. Within this spectrum of basic research in environmental medicine, the Chair of Anatomy and Cell Biology is divided into five different working groups (WG 1-5).
