Dr. Jan Muntermann is a Professor of Financial Data Analytics and a member of the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Augsburg.

His research and teaching focus on the role of digitalization in the financial services industry and the finance function of companies. His work on managerial decision support addresses the question of how to extract useful information from large and heterogeneous datasets in finance. Further, his work examines the use of digital technologies for the development and execution of digital business strategy in the financial services industry.

Professor Muntermann‘s research has been published in leading journals, including Information Systems Research, the Journal of the Association for Information Systems, the Journal of Information Technology, the Journal of Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, and the European Journal of Information Systems. Muntermann currently serves on the editorial board of?Decision Support Systems and Schmalenbach Journal of Business Research.

He received research funding from the European Commission and the German Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF). Since 2022, he has been appointed as a member of the Digital Finance Forum established by the BMF.

Before joining the University of Augsburg, he held the positions of a Full Professor (Chair of E-Finance and Digital Markets) at the University of G?ttingen and of an Assistant Professor (Jun.-Professor of Electronic Securities Trading) at Goethe-University Frankfurt. He has been a visiting scholar at London Business School and Microsoft Research Cambridge.

Muntermann holds a degree in Business Administration (Diplom-Kaufmann) and Ph.D. (Dr. rer. pol.) from Goethe University Frankfurt.
