General information and placement test
The courses offered in German as a Foreign Language (Deutsch als Fremdsprache, DaF) are designed for students who are officially enrolled as students of the University of Augsburg and whose native language is not German. The course levels range from A1 to C2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ( CEFR).

Students who are interested in taking a German language course and who do not have an official language certificate (such as DSH, TestDaF or a certificate issued by the Goethe-Institut) are advised to take the?placement test:

Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang (DSH)
Registration for DSH takes place through the Students Records Office ("Studentenkanzlei"). Please note that before you can register for DSH, your application for a University of Augsburg degree course has to be completed and formally accepted.

International Summer Programme: German as a Foreign Language
The International Summer Programme is a project-based language course that uses the city of Augsburg to explore and gain a deeper under?standing of aspects of German culture. Students will work in small teams and receive intensive language support from qualified instructors. During this four-week course, they will also have access to the university library and computers. As a tradition, students take part in the "Festival of Peace" (Hohes Friedensfest), which is celebrated in the city of Augsburg on 8 August every year.

Participants must be at least 18 years old and must have advanced German language skills (a minimum of B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, preferably level C1).
