Falk Buettner's research focuses on the application and development of technologies for glycan, (glyco)protein and (glyco)lipid analytics. These technologies are applied to basic research questions as well as clinically relevant topics?in the field of glycobiology, human stem cell biology and cancer. He has a particular interest in the identification of glycan- or protein-based cell surface markers for human pluripotent stem cells or cancer. These markers are intended to be applied for cellular characterization, diagnostics, or targeting. He and his team intend to increase knowledge on how human lifestyle may lead to early onset of cancer. Therefore, the Buettner group will analyze cellular models and cancer specimen on a multi-OMIC level.
