Particle-based numerical simulations

Date: 05.11.24 - 06.11.24

?

Abstract:

Particle-based simulations are a versatile tool for numerically investigating complex physical systems, including fluid dynamics, solid mechanics, and multi-physics problems. They are well-suited for a number of applications that are difficult to address using traditional grid-based methods, but present their own set of challenges in terms of accuracy, stability, and computational efficiency.
?
In this workshop, researchers from various scientific disciplines come together to discuss recent advancements in particle-based simulations. In addition to exploring innovative modeling approaches and developments in numerical methods, the workshop places special emphasis on efficient algorithms and modern implementation techniques. The first day features presentations from experts in the field, while the second day hosts a hackathon, offering practitioners the chance to work on their own projects and collaborate with fellow participants.

Inverse modelling in atmospheric applications

Date

07.10.2024 - 08.10.2024

Abstract: Inverse problems, or the problem of inferring unknown causes from observed effects, represent an important methodology at the intersection of applied mathematics, statistics, and diverse application domains. This workshop focuses on the application within the atmospheric sciences, encompassing both practical challenges and theoretical advancements, with a particular emphasis on data assimilation. Our aim is to bring together researchers from the diverse communities, ranging from theoretical to applied, to foster collaboration and enable fruitful discussions. In addition, our workshop will feature tutorial-style lectures and is therefore of interest for both established and younger researchers.

Dynamics of interfaces: From applied math to physics and material science

Date

04.03.2024 - 06.03.2024

Abstract

Interfaces appear in many physical and biological systems, where they can generate forces and drive fluxes of molecules. However, the molecular size and the fluctuations of the interfaces pose various challenges for experimentalists and theorists. This workshop will bring together diverse researchers interested in interface dynamics using experiments, numerical simulations, and mathematical analysis.

Interaction of mathematics and materials science

Date
28.02.24 - 01.03.24

Abstract

Employing Biophysical Concepts in Biotech-nological Production

Date
24.09.2023 - 29.09.2023
